But using basic kinematic equations, and the fact that F=ma, and assuming that all like Z's are roughly the same mass and are hampered by similar frictional forces...you can *very generally speaking* say that if two cars are accelerating at ther maximum over a certain distance from a rest, then the car with the greater acceleration will reach a higher speed at the end of the distance.

Mainly, drag racers use it to estimate a car's potential and to balance out inconsistancies in launching. For example, a 500hp Z with Kumhos and a 500hp Z with drag radials should have very similar trap speeds, but the drag radialed Z should have a significant edge in the ET. That's because the Kumho-tired Z sat for 1.5 seconds at the green light spinning while the drag radial Z immediately caught. Both had 1320' to accelerate. and both had the same power, so you'd expect the same MPH at the finish line even though the kumho Z will arrive there later.
